I concentrate on the so-called Elementary Teaching Laboratory program (ETL) which began in 1996 in Institute for Laser Science of University of Electro-Communications and has been supported from 2005 by Initiatives for Attractive Education in the Graduate Schools of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan. In the ETL the graduate students (Instructors) make their own program to teach undergraduate students(Attendees). During the development of each experiment, the graduate students notice that they need broad knowledge related to their experiments in order to explain the experiment to the students attending the program. In addition, they need a simple introduction to start the program for the attendees. Such considerations give a new motivation for study and investigation to the graduate students because they feel they are the "teacher". In comparison to the usual teaching assistant position in the university, the teaching students have responsibility for designing the experimental program. They are also asked to write their own (small) textbooks.For undergraduate students attending the experiments, they learn brief introduction of one topic for one experiment and they learn how to work with some experimental tool like a high power laser, precision optics, measurement method, and so on. Unlike normal university course,many attending students feel they want to be a "teacher" with their own style in future.After 10 years' experience, this program has been chosen as an official university program. At this time, we have changed the ETL program a little. The improvements are 1) The teaching students are requested to develop a more original program. 2) We extend the opportunity to attend this program to workers in the optical industry. In addition the teaching graduate students now receive two credits after finishing the development of their program and teaching the students.}, pages = {203--210}, title = {問題設定型光科学教育プロジェクト}, volume = {19}, year = {2006}, yomi = {ヨネダ, ヒトキ and ウエダ, ケンイチ and スズキ, マサル and シマダ, ヒロシ} }
